Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1

Overnight Bus Journey from Istanbul to Cappadocia

20:30 – Departure from Istanbul Main Bus Station (Esenler Otogar)
In the evening you make your way to the Istanbul Main Bus Station (Esenler Otogar) and board your overnight bus to Cappadocia. You travel on a modern, air-conditioned intercity coach with numbered seats, and the journey takes around 11 hours with short comfort stops at roadside rest areas for toilets, snacks and hot drinks.

During the night you cross Central Anatolia, passing through small towns and open landscapes. It is a relaxed, budget-friendly way to reach Cappadocia while you rest, read or sleep on the bus. Your ticket and seat are pre-booked, so you simply show your name or ticket number and get on board.

Bus departure times can change slightly depending on the season, bus company and ticket availability. Please arrive at the bus station at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Day 2

Arrival in Cappadocia & Guided Red Tour

07:00 – Arrival in Cappadocia & Transfer to Hotel or Café
In the early morning you arrive at the Cappadocia bus station (Nevşehir or Göreme, depending on the company). A member of our team meets you at the platform and provides a short transfer to a nearby hotel or café. Here you can freshen up, change clothes and relax before your first tour begins.

You have free time until around 10:30. You can enjoy breakfast, drink tea or coffee and slowly wake up after the overnight journey. This quiet morning break helps you feel ready and comfortable for a full day of Cappadocia sightseeing.

10:30 – Start of Cappadocia Red Tour (North Cappadocia)
Your professional English-speaking guide meets at the bus station you and the full-day Red Tour begins. This is the classic introduction to North Cappadocia, where you visit fairy chimneys, cave towns and a pottery village.

  • Devrent (Imagination) Valley – Walk among rock formations that look like animals, people and objects shaped by nature. It is a fun place to use your imagination and take creative photos of the other-worldly Cappadocia landscape.
  • Paşabağ (Monks Valley) – See some of the most famous fairy chimneys with multiple stone caps rising from the soft tuff rock. Your guide explains how hermits once lived here in simple rock rooms, and why these formations are so unique in the world.
  • Zelve Open-Air Museum – Explore an old cave town where people lived in rock houses, churches and tunnels until the mid-20th century. As you walk through the abandoned streets, you get a strong feeling of how life in Cappadocia used to be.
  • Avanos & Red River (Kızılırmak) – Visit the riverside town of Avanos, famous for its pottery workshops. The town sits beside the longest river in Turkey, and the red-colored clay from this river has been used for ceramics since Hittite times.
  • Traditional Pottery Workshop – Stop at a local atelier to watch a live pottery demonstration on the wheel. You see how artisans shape the clay with their hands, and if you wish, you can try making your own piece as a special memory from Cappadocia.
  • Göreme Panoramic Viewpoint – Enjoy a wide view over Göreme and its surrounding valleys, filled with cave houses and fairy chimneys. This is a perfect spot to understand why a Cappadocia hot air balloon flight is so popular at sunrise.
  • Uçhisar Castle (Exterior View) – Finish the day with a photo stop at the highest village in Cappadocia. You see the natural rock castle, pigeon houses and steep cliffs that dominate the skyline and give the region its dramatic character.

A tasty lunch at a local restaurant is included during the tour, giving you time to relax, try Turkish dishes and ask your guide any questions about the region.

Evening – Check-in & Overnight in Cappadocia
At the end of the Red Tour, you are dropped off at your hotel. You check in, rest and enjoy free time in the evening. You can walk through the town, shop for souvenirs or simply sit on a terrace and watch the changing colors of the rocks as the sun sets.

This was a whirlwind trip! Left Istanbul at night, arrived in the morning. Our guide (Mustafa) was so energetic and fun, it woke us all up. We saw the amazing valleys and the fairy chimneys. The hotel was a dream. The balloon ride... I'm speechless. It was incredible. Yes, the bus is tiring, but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

The bus ride is long, just be prepared for it. But the guide was great, and the hotel was amazing. Good tour for the price.
