Kizilcukur (Red & Rose Valley): Start the day tour with a hike along the Rose & Red Valley, the most breathtakingly and mysteriously beautiful valleys in the Cappadocia region. The valleys, with their fabulous volcanic rock formations, are in the heart of Cappadocia but well away from the mainstream tourist haunts. Our hike is going to end in Cavusin Village, where we will see a rock castle and troglodyte dwellings where people lived until the 20th century. It is always possible to see villagers working in the area for apple grapes, or apricots.
Cavusin Village: One of the oldest settlements in the Cappadocia area, Cavusin village is situated 2km from Goreme, on the Göreme–Avanos road. The Church of Santa John, the Baptist offers a panoramic view of the village. This church and its paintings date back to the 5th century, making the oldest church in the Cappadocia. It had a large courtyard which is unusual for Cappadocia, this has been eroded away, however.
Underground City: Cappadocia Kaymakli and Derinkuyu underground cities are the two largest and deepest of the 40 others in the region. They both have eight floors, although not all are open to the public. The underground city is one of the highlights in Cappadocia.
