Something about being on horseback in that landscape at sunset just got to me in the best way. We set off in the late afternoon and the guide, who clearly adored the horses, matched each of us carefully to a suitable one and kept the pace gentle and unhurried throughout. We wound along the valley trails as the light turned golden and then pink, the fairy chimneys glowing and barely another soul around. There was a calm to it that none of the busier activities had. By the time we rode back as the sun dipped below the ridge I was completely smitten with the place. Even if youve never sat on a horse in your life it really doesnt matter, the guide takes such good care of you that anyone can relax into it. Easily my favourite evening of the whole holiday.
