The exact launch field is selected each morning according to wind direction and Civil Aviation rules.

Set three alarms because I was terrified of sleeping through it, and so glad I made every one of them. Floating over that landscape at first light, the chimneys throwing long shadows, balloons drifting in every direction you look. The pilot was calm and genuinely funny, pointing out the valleys by name and timing our climbs so we always had something new below us. This is the thing you actually come to Cappadocia for, everything else is a bonus.

I expected scary and fast and it is the complete opposite, slow and peaceful with just the burner now and then. Knocking off one star only because the wait on the ground was long and cold. Once up though, it was pure magic and I forgot all about it.
